Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who traps the cats?
A: The Navy has an environmental team who will do the trapping, and then the cats will be transferred to the Cat Team 7 Volunteers.
Q: Why can’t you use Trap Neuter Return (TNR) to help these cats?
A: A Department of Defense (DoD) policy prohibits the use of TNR to control any outdoor cat population on their property. It can be found in full at this link.
Q: I don't know anything about feral cats. Can I help?
A: YES!! We need blankets, cat food, litter, crates and other equipment donated to our entirely volunteer based effort! Let's chat!
Q: How many cats in need are there on Naval Station Norfolk?
A: Hundreds of cats are in need of saving!
Q: What happens if you find a friendly cat or a litter of kittens?
A: We will ensure they find a suitable indoor home through either our initiative, the Norfolk SPCA or our other adoption partners.
Q: What do you need the most help with?
A: We need permanent locations for these kitties! If you can help pass out flyers or spread the word to anyone, that will help! We will find a way to go out as far as Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio and New England if that's what it takes!!
